The 404 page is shown when a visitor opens a URL that does not exist. In Rakmyat, you design it with Elementor and assign it in Theme Options.
1. Create the 404 template in Theme Builder #
- Log in to WordPress admin.
- Go to Rakmyat Dashboard → Templates → Add New Template.
- Enter a title, for example:
404 Page. - Click Edit with Elementor.
In Elementor, design your 404 layout, for example:
- Big title: “Page Not Found”.
- Short message explaining the page does not exist.
- Button back to Home.
- Optional search form or list of popular pages.
Click Publish when finished.
Set template type #
In the same template edit screen:
- Scroll to Template Settings.
- Set Template Type to 404 Page.
- Enable Template Active.
- Set Priority (1–100) if you plan to have more than one 404 template.
- Click Update.
Now this template is registered as a 404 layout in the Theme Builder.
2. Assign the 404 page in Theme Options #
- Go to Rakmyat Dashboard → Theme Options → 404 Page (or similar tab in Theme Options).
- Under 404 Page Settings, choose your 404 template from the dropdown list (for example
404 Page).- The dropdown lists templates from Theme Builder (Header, Footer, Portfolio Archive, Services Archive, etc.). Choose only the one created for 404.
- Click Save Changes.
From now on, whenever a visitor opens a non‑existing URL, the theme will show this Elementor 404 template.
3. Testing the 404 page #
- Open your site in a new tab.
- Manually type a wrong URL, for example:
https://yourdomain.com/this-page-does-not-exist - Confirm that your custom 404 design appears.
- Test the Home button and any links or search form in the layout.
4. Notes and troubleshooting #
- If you see the default WordPress 404 instead of your design:
- Check that the template has Template Type = 404 Page and Template Active = Enabled.
- Confirm that in Theme Options → 404 Page you selected the correct template and saved.
- Clear caches (plugins, server, browser) and test again.
- Only one 404 template will be used at a time. If you have several, the one with the highest priority (according to your Template Settings logic) and selected in Theme Options is applied.
With this setup, you have a fully customizable 404 error page designed in Elementor and controlled by the Rakmyat theme options.
